Danny Reagan is back — and stepping into a brand-new chapter. Boston Blue, the upcoming Blue Bloods spinoff, has revealed its first look at Donnie Wahlberg alongside new co-star Sonequa Martin-Green ahead of its CBS premiere this October.
Wahlberg reprises his role as Danny Reagan, who leaves New York to join the Boston Police Department. There, he’s paired with Detective Lena Silver, played by Martin-Green — a skilled investigator from a powerful Boston law-enforcement family.
The Silver family plays a major role in the series and includes District Attorney Mae Silver, Superintendent Sarah Silver, rookie officer Jonah Silver, and Reverend Edwin Peters, Lena’s grandfather. As Danny adjusts to a new department and city, he also hopes to rebuild his relationship with his son Sean, who’s beginning his own path in Boston.
Behind-the-scenes photos show Wahlberg and Martin-Green filming both in Toronto and Boston, with scenes capturing them in character at a crime site and moving through the city. Danny appears in a more casual look — trading suits for a leather jacket — while Lena is seen in sharp professional attire, signaling a fresh visual style for the new series.
The early images hint at a grounded, street-level procedural that blends new dynamics with familiar Blue Bloods DNA as Danny Reagan’s story continues in a new city.
