After 14 seasons, fans said goodbye to Blue Bloods in December 2024 — but the story isn’t over yet.
CBS has officially ordered a new expansion series, tentatively titled Boston Blue, and Donnie Wahlberg is returning as Danny Reagan.
Same Cop… New City
In the upcoming show, Danny leaves New York and joins the Boston Police Department, where he’ll team up with a new partner, Detective Lena Peters — another officer raised in a law-enforcement family. The series is expected to premiere during the 2025–2026 TV season on CBS.
A Return Home for Wahlberg
The move to Boston isn’t random — it mirrors Wahlberg’s real life, as he was born and raised in Dorchester. Behind the scenes, showrunners Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier (known for Alert: MPU, L.A.’s Finest, and The Blacklist) are leading the project.
Originally developed as a separate police-family drama, the concept evolved once CBS decided to connect it to Danny Reagan and expand the Blue Bloods universe.
Now the big question: will fans follow Danny to Boston? The franchise’s future may depend on it.
