Viewers watched real-life brothers Tony Terraciano and Andrew Terraciano grow up on Blue Bloods, where they played Danny Reagan’s sons, Sean and Jack. But when Danny’s story continued in the spinoff Boston Blue, fans were surprised to see Sean recast.
In the new series, actor Mika Amonsen takes over the role of Sean Reagan, while Andrew Terraciano has not publicly commented on the casting change.
So what is Terraciano doing now? The 22-year-old graduated from New York University in May 2025 and later celebrated by traveling with his family, including his brother Tony. His most recent social media posts show photos from Halloween celebrations in November.
Outside of his long run on Blue Bloods, Terraciano has only a few additional credits so far. He appeared in the short film Rogue Assistant in 2014 and later wrote and acted in the 2022 short A First Step Into Darkness.
Meanwhile, Boston Blue follows Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg, as he starts a new chapter in Boston after Sean moves there to begin his career as a police officer. After Sean is seriously injured while helping people off duty, Danny rushes to Boston and stays to continue his detective work alongside Sonequa Martin-Green’s character, Detective Lena Silver.
The show’s creators, Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, explained that Sean was recast because they wanted a slightly different version of the character—someone who still felt familiar but reflected Sean’s new path in life as a police officer.
The change hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans. Amonsen admitted he has seen some negative reactions online but says many viewers have also supported his take on the character and enjoy the direction of the series.
As for Sean’s brother Jack, originally played by Tony Terraciano, there’s been no confirmation yet about whether the character will appear in Boston Blue. However, Wahlberg has hinted that more Blue Bloods alumni could show up in the spinoff, meaning fans may eventually see what happened to Danny’s other son as well.
