Boston Blue has quickly emerged as one of the most-watched new shows of fall 2025, and CBS is already locking in its future. The network has officially renewed the Blue Bloods spinoff for Season 2, confirming the news on Wednesday, December 3, alongside fellow freshman drama Sheriff Country.
The series stars Donnie Wahlberg returning as fan-favorite detective Danny Reagan, who moves to Boston with his son Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen) to begin a new chapter. There, Danny becomes connected to one of the city’s most influential law-enforcement families — the Silvers. He’s partnered with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), blending the familiar heart of Blue Bloods with a fresh setting and new relationships.
Six episodes have aired so far, and with the early renewal in place, fans can expect many more stories to come.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach celebrated the show’s strong start, saying the network has seen instant success on Friday nights, with audiences embracing both Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming platforms. She credited the shows’ character-driven storytelling and talented casts for their early momentum.
