Mark Harmon Returns to NCIS: Origins for a Major Season 3 Role as Gibbs
The NCIS universe is bringing back one of its biggest stars. Mark Harmon is officially returning as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, marking another major moment for longtime fans of the franchise.
After leaving the main series in 2021 following 19 seasons as Gibbs, Harmon remained connected to NCIS: Origins as a narrator and executive producer. The prequel series explores the early years of Gibbs’ career, with Austin Stowell portraying a younger version of the iconic character.
Now, fans have received surprising news: Harmon will appear in every episode of NCIS: Origins Season 3.
The announcement was teased through the show’s official social media, revealing that “the story he never told enters a new chapter” as Gibbs returns for the upcoming season.
The news immediately excited fans, many of whom celebrated the chance to see Harmon back on screen in one of television’s most recognizable roles.
“Cannot wait. So happy to have him back on screen,” one fan wrote, while another called the return “the best news ever” for NCIS viewers.
According to reports, Harmon’s storyline will connect to a present-day mystery involving Gibbs’ past during his time at Pendleton in the 1990s. His return will also mark another appearance in NCIS: Origins since the series debuted in 2024.
With Gibbs set to play a larger role than ever in Season 3, anticipation is already building for the next chapter of NCIS: Origins when the series returns.
