After more than 20 years on air, NCIS remains one of CBS’s biggest hits. Since premiering in 2003 as a spin-off of JAG, the series has followed Navy and Marine investigators tackling everything from murder to high-level military crimes.
But even on a fan-favorite show, not every character wins hearts.
The Least Likable NCIS Character? Fans Have Voted.
In a U.S. poll of 618 viewers conducted by Looper, Anthony DiNozzo Jr. — played by Michael Weatherly — was voted the least likable character of all time, receiving 24.43% of the vote.
For longtime fans, that may come as a surprise. Tony was a core part of the team for years. However, some viewers feel certain aspects of the character haven’t aged well, which may explain the result.

Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) – 19.90%
Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) – 18.61%
Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) – 14.24%
Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) – 12.30%
Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) – 10.52%
Interestingly, Abby received the fewest votes overall — a notable shift considering she was once criticized heavily in earlier discussions among fans.
Even after two decades, NCIS still sparks passionate debate — and clearly, fans have strong opinions about their favorite (and least favorite) agents.
