The Reagan legacy is continuing in Boston Blue — but one familiar face won’t be coming along.
CBS has officially ordered the Blue Bloods spin-off, which follows Danny Reagan as he begins a new chapter in Boston alongside his son Sean. However, Andrew Terraciano, who portrayed Sean for all 14 seasons of the original series, will not return. The role has been recast, with Suits and Reacher guest star Mika Amonsen stepping in. No reason for the change has been announced.
Terraciano, who appeared in nearly every episode of Blue Bloods, previously shared a heartfelt message after the show wrapped in 2024, thanking the cast and crew and reflecting on the years spent growing up on set.
The original series ended after 14 seasons despite strong fan support, but CBS quickly moved to expand the franchise. Boston Blue picks up with Danny joining the Boston Police Department, while Sean relocates to the city to start his own career as a patrol officer and carve out his path within the Reagan legacy. Their move sets the stage for a deeper father-son dynamic as they reconnect in a new environment.
The series is written by Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis and features a cast that includes Donnie Wahlberg, Mika Amonsen, Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, and Ernie Hudson. It remains unclear whether Tom Selleck will appear.
