NCIS Season 23 Winter Break Update: When It’s Back on CBS
As Christmas approaches, we know what that means: broadcast TV shows go on hiatus — and that includes NCIS Season 23.
CBS is one of the last networks to take a winter break. While NBC and ABC wrapped up their fall finales in November or early December, and FOX mostly in early December, CBS keeps its scripted shows running into the later weeks of the year. The downside? No new episodes in January 2026.
NCIS and other CBS shows will return Tuesday, February 24, 2026, kicking off NCIS Night at 8/7c. The wait is strategic: CBS wants to avoid airing scripted shows during the Winter Olympics, which would hurt ratings. By holding the shows until after the Olympics, viewers get a consistent schedule through to the May finales — fewer breaks, less frustration.
What to Expect When NCIS Returns
The fall finale of Season 23 brought closure for Alden Parker, who finally uncovered the truth about his mother’s death. The body in her grave wasn’t actually hers but belonged to a friend — a tangled web of protection, deception, and tragedy. In the end, Lily’s father killed Eleanor, confessed everything, and revealed Eleanor’s body’s location.
But the cliffhanger leaves us on edge: Special Agent Jessica Knight embarks on a dangerous mission with her ELITE team, hunting a former member — none other than Eleanor Bishop. Will Knight win this high-stakes game of chess?
Mark your calendars: NCIS Season 23 returns Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 8/7c on CBS.
