Donnie Wahlberg is already imagining some major star power for Boston Blue — and his dream guest list is packed with big Boston names.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Wahlberg shared with host Jimmy Fallon that he’d love to bring fellow Boston natives into the series. At the top of his list? His own brother, Mark Wahlberg — though he joked that Mark might not be too eager to share the screen with him.
Fallon playfully suggested that Mark could appear as his old persona “Marky Mark,” and Donnie ran with the idea, imagining him as a retired version of the character selling hot dogs at a Boston Celtics game.
Wahlberg didn’t stop there — he also mentioned Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as dream cameos, while even inviting Fallon himself to make an appearance, praising his surprisingly good Boston accent.
Boston Blue, a spinoff of Blue Bloods, follows Danny Reagan as he leaves New York behind and relocates to Boston to be closer to his son, Sean, while continuing his career with the Boston Police Department. The series also stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Maggie Lawson, Gloria Reuben, and Marcus Scribner.
Filming in his hometown has been anything but quiet. Speaking on Live with Kelly and Mark, Wahlberg joked that shooting scenes can get chaotic, with fans constantly calling out to him mid-take. He even pointed out that Boston’s famous duck boat tours sometimes pass by during filming, with guides humorously announcing his presence to tourists.
Despite the distractions, Wahlberg seems to be embracing the energy of Boston — and if his dream cameos become reality, Boston Blue could get even more star-studded.
