After its cancellation in 2024, Blue Bloods lives on through its spin-off, Boston Blue. And according to Donnie Wahlberg, Tom Selleck has shown strong support for the new series.
Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, revealed that he spoke with Selleck early on before deciding to join the spin-off. While he didn’t share details, he emphasized that Selleck has been “very supportive” of the project.
So far, Selleck has not committed to appearing in Boston Blue, even for a guest role. However, Wahlberg made it clear the possibility is still open—whether it’s Frank visiting Boston or Danny returning to New York.
“I’d love to work with him again,” Wahlberg said, adding that the team hopes to create the right story to bring him back. He also hinted at potential appearances from other members of the Reagan family.
Still, Selleck isn’t in a rush to return. In a later interview, he admitted he’s unsure about joining the spin-off, saying he feels his role is to preserve Blue Bloods’ legacy—not necessarily continue playing Frank Reagan.
