It wasn’t just Donnie Wahlberg returning to his Blue Bloods role in the premiere of the spinoff Boston Blue. The first episode, “Faith and Family,” also featured surprise cameos from Marisa Ramirez (Det. Maria Baez) and Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan).
One major absence, however, was Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan. While he didn’t appear on screen, fans did get a small connection — Danny Reagan is seen speaking with his father on the phone.
So, will Frank show up later this season? There’s no official confirmation yet, but there are hints that keep hope alive. The premiere makes several references to Frank, including a moment when Danny calls him to update him on his son Sean’s condition after he’s injured while rescuing people from a fire.
For now, fans will have to wait and see if Frank Reagan makes his return in Boston Blue.
