But this time, it’s not Sam Hanna asking for help — it’s the flagship team that needs him.
Why Does NCIS Need Sam?
The April 21 episode centers on the murder of three combat veterans in a Washington, D.C. motel. As the team investigates, they hit a wall: a key suspect refuses to talk to anyone except Sam Hanna.
Given Sam’s military background and deep connection to fellow vets, it makes sense he’d be the one someone in that world would trust. His return isn’t just a cameo — he’s crucial to cracking the case.
What About Hetty?
Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles are still hoping for answers about Hetty. The last we heard, she was alive in Syria, with plans in motion to bring her home. However, it doesn’t sound like this episode will provide an update.
Part of that unfinished storyline was due to scheduling challenges involving Linda Hunt, who played the mysterious operations manager. While fans would love closure, this crossover appears focused strictly on the D.C. investigation.
Still, in the NCIS universe, surprises are always possible.
