Boston Blue Is Finally Reuniting Danny & Baez — And It’s Bigger Than Fans Expected
It’s official: Boston Blue is bringing back one of Blue Bloods’ most beloved duos. In Season 1, Episode 6, Detective Maria Baez and Danny Reagan will reunite on screen — and fans have been waiting for this moment.
Marisa Ramirez and Donnie Wahlberg return as Baez and Danny, marking the first time the pair have worked a case together since Blue Bloods. According to TV Insider, the reunion airs in Episode 6, titled “Code of Ethics.”
On the new series, Danny has joined the Boston Police Department after his son Sean relocates to Boston. Baez previously made a brief appearance in Episode 3, stopping by from New York — but this time, she’s fully stepping back into the action.
In “Code of Ethics,” Danny and Lena hunt down a serial home invader, with Baez lending her expertise. At the same time, Sean’s new relationship hits turbulence, while Mae and Sarah uncover a leak that could shake the justice system to its core.
Ramirez recently told Us Weekly she’s thankful Baez wasn’t written off when Blue Bloods ended. She called the reunion “really sweet and generous,” adding that it feels like a gift to fans who were left hanging over Danny and Baez’s evolving relationship.
Though the pair are still navigating long distance, Ramirez hinted that Baez — and her daughter Elena — could easily see Boston as home. Still, she teased drama ahead: viewers should “watch… and still be worried about the long-distance thing.”
Wahlberg also revealed that this may be just the beginning. Originally, the Boston Blue pilot featured none of his former castmates — but now, he says, they’re “creeping in.” He’s even hopeful that the growing momentum could one day spark another spinoff — or perhaps even a feature film uniting both ensembles.
For longtime fans, this reunion isn’t just a crossover. It’s unfinished business — and it’s finally playing out.
